Visited the luddite.net/tad/campics/vw. How depressing! What the (bleep) is
wrong with these guys? Where's the rust? Where's the damage? Why'd they pull
the body in the first place? Then to haul it to scrapyard with the pop out
windows in and the glass, I mean how ignorant can you get. Did anyone notice
the original one year only rear side panels with the chrome strip? Do you know
those are irreplaceable? No one makes those anymore. These guys probably used
them to start a bonfire or slide down a hill. I mean, its just a car, and their
property, but why post this carnage on a newsgroup that exist to preserve the
few remaining vintage bugs? They should license skill saws to make sure morons
like these guys don't get their hands on them!

I have had my share of classics over the years, but you HAVE to get rid
of them sometimes. The reason they are getting junked is that nobody
cares ENOUGH to buy them and do what it takes to store/keep/restore
them. They ARE out there, but you have to look.

I junked a 55 ragtop that wasn't in too bad a shape a few years ago; Oh
well, what can I say. I would have kept it had Big Brother's zoning laws
not had the authorities all over my ass.

My father even once had a 44 -46 bug (can't remember the year); British
built, with wooden floors! We even junked a 59 singlecab, and loads of
others.

It happens. If you don't want this to happen, step up to the plate and
buy/get one from someone who is going to have NO choice but to get rid
of it, in any way they can when the time comes.
